The Best Use Case for AI?

Supercharge your superpowers...

Just saw an announcement from Elon that xAI released a version of Grok designed for vibe coding: Grok Code v1.

As an aspiring vibe coder, I thought I would check it out. So I navigated over to Cursor and quickly became discouraged.

Not because Grok Code wasn't available. But because I realized that, even if it was free, I had no idea what to do with it. As somebody who doesn’t know how to code, it doesn't matter how powerful AI coding tools become if I don't know even know where to start.

Which reminded me of an important point I thought we could talk about today.

33 Months Since ChatGPT Went Viral

While it may be hard to fathom, three short years ago, there were probably only a couple thousand people on the entire planet using ChatGPT 2.0.*

*Which used to be called Chat With GPT (LOL)

Fast-forward to today, and it has billions of users, with the app version ranking among the most popular in the App Store worldwide.

Yet even today, most of what we do with AI is unnecessary. Not in the sense that it's not helpful, but in the sense that - if AI disappeared tomorrow - 99.99% of us would go back to the way that we did things 24 short months ago.

Remember this dinosaur?!

Which raises an important point: Despite having access to near infinite knowledge - on a scale exponentially larger than what Google provides - most of us are still working in the same career doing the same things we always did.

We just use AI to perform our tasks more efficiently and more effectively.

Same Same, But Better

And unless you’re building a new AI business from the ground up, that’s probably the best lens with which to view AI moving forward.

For the vast majority of people, AI isn’t here to help us develop some mind-blowingly new skill we didn't care about prior to ChatGPT going viral.

Instead, it's here to help us become better at what we're already good at.

And not just a little better. But exponentially so.

Where AI Delivers Real Leverage

Take the vibe coding example I mentioned above.

For someone who has a computer science background, vibe coding tools are a dream come true. They make the process of both expanding on existing code - and writing new code - exponentially faster.

But for someone who doesn’t even understand the basics of programming, these tools are near worthless.

It's like giving an F1 car to somebody who's never driven anything besides a Honda.

Yes, they might be able to drive it a little bit faster than their minivan and have some fun. But that doesn't mean they’re capable of taking it out on the track and pushing it to its fullest potential.

On the flip side, someone who has professional go-kart experience would be able to enjoy the F1 car to a much higher degree than the average person.

And someone who has experience driving NASCAR would really be able to push it.

Point being, the more skilled somebody is before you hand them a superpowered tool, the higher the likelihood they can use it to its fullest potential.

AI is the Ultimate Enhancer

And I don't think it's unjust to say that AI is the most powerful tool in existence for knowledge workers.

Doesn’t matter if you're a professor, author, accountant, etc. Artificial intelligence has the potential to make you exponentially better at what you're already good at.

On the flip side, if you're trying to learn a new skill you weren’t interested in before AI went viral, you’re still going to have to learn the beginner and intermediate stuff the experts take for granted.

Having an accounting AI doesn’t make you a CPA

Sure, artificial intelligence can help you learn a new skill faster.

But we’re still a long way off from beginners being able to enter a new industry and produce output with anywhere near the level of quality you’d expect from somebody who has decades of experience.

Conclusion

So if you feel overwhelmed by all this AI stuff, relax and take a deep breath.

For most of us, the best way to leverage AI is to identify what we're already good at and double down on it. From design to writing to crunching numbers, the opportunities for you to enhance your existing skills are near limitless.

And if you’re interested in learning more about how to leverage prompts and automation to improve the skills you’
